Most people spend a lot of time at work. What is worse is when people get stuck in a job or career they don’t like. I have been lucky enough to combine two of my passions in a way that allows me to make money doing what I love, blogging. A lot of people try to make money blogging but fail. I don’t know the reason for this. But if I were to guess, I would say it is because they don’t feel passionate about their blog topic.
I am very passionate about guns. This passion comes across in my posts and engages my readers. As a result, they keep coming back to check out my most recent updates. They also share my posts and tell their friends about my site. But how does this make me money? My money comes from AdSense and Amazon Affiliates.
A Few Quick Tips
First, I must tell you that it isn’t easy to make money by blogging. It may seem like a cakewalk, but it IS a profession, and like all top professionals, it involves training and skill. In order to really make your blogs work, you should invest in training that is up-to-date. The reasoning for this is so that you can keep your skills sharp. You will also want to learn about your newest monetization options.
There are great websites that are perfect for learning tips and how to write content that is going to keep your readers coming back for more. Some of these websites include Fizzle.co, MichaelHyatt.com, and Problogger.net. These websites are great places to acquire free tools and advice. You will also have access to more in-depth training and support, although there is a fee associated with it.
For more blogging expertise, you may want to consider getting connected with other bloggers. It may seem like blogging is just something that you personally do, but there are millions of other bloggers out there that are writing about the same content as you. So, what better way to fresh ideas than to form an alliance with other bloggers who share the same ideas as you. You can cross-promote, offer support, and share content. These can be very beneficial financially for all those who are in your alliance and it will be nice to communicate with others instead of feeling isolated.
Now that you know how to really get into blogging and what it would take, I am going to share with you how I make my money with AdSense and Amazon Affiliates.
Amazon Affiliates
Amazon affiliates is a great way to make money with blogging. All you have to do to get started is go to Amazon’s website and sign up for an affiliate account. I can use my affiliate account to create a link to just about any of their products. When someone buys a product after using my link, I get a commission.
If Amazon has a product related to something I was already going to write about, I will simply link to it. I did a post reviewing the best rifle optics. I am talking about a topic I enjoy, and I am providing valuable information to my readers. If they like one of the scopes I reviewed, they can buy it for themselves. They get a great scope, and I make a little money. It’s a win-win.
Now, I love guns, but I don’t know everything there is to know about them. But that’s fine. A little research can go a long way. I do research on websites such as Outdoor Life and The Sportsman Guide.
Adsense
AdSense is another way I earn money with blogging. The great thing about AdSense is that it does not require my readers to buy anything. All I do is place an AdSense link in my blog posts, and advertisements from Google will show up. If anyone clicks the link, Google pays me a commission. I really like AdSense because it can target content based on things my readers will be interested in. This improves the quality of the ads and keeps the content on my posts relevant.
All I had to do to get started was sign up on the AdSense website. It will take a little while for Google to approve your account, but after your account is approved, you can use it on as many sites as you need.
Final Thoughts
It’s awesome to have the ability to make money doing something I love. Anyone could learn to do it. It just takes time and effort. Getting started is the hardest part, but you are good to go after that.
After you become successful, it is important to keep your readers in mind. Many bloggers fail because they try too hard to make money and lose focus on providing relevant information for their readers.
A good rule of thumb is to think of providing value to your customers as your main purpose. Any money you make from that is a side benefit.
